Lips are the most delicate part of the body, as they are
protected with a very thin layer and are often exposed to numerous damaging
elements like pollution and UV rays and, therefore, they can get dry and
chapped easily. This dryness can occur in cold as well as warm weather. Even the UV
rays from the sun can harm lips in a short span of time. Hence, lip balms
are extremely important in order to take care of them. But, with this, you
might also have heard that these balms often do not solve the problem, and it
requires a very frequent application to keep the lips moisturized. What if you
can make a lip balm at home that can solve the problem of cracked, dry
or chapped lips and all other problems? Here the question arises, how
to make homemade lip balm? And, what are the ingredients that are required? To
satiate your curiosities, just have a look at the below-mentioned recipe.
Hemp & Honey Lip Balm
Ingredients:
- 15g beeswax
- 1g carnauba wax
- 10g cocoa butter
- 5g shea butter
- 20ml almond oil
- 5ml hemp oil
- 10ml manuka honey
- 8 drops citrus essential oil
Equipment
- Double boiler
- Metal spoon
- Small glass jug
- 12 lip balm tubes or 4 pots
- Digital kitchen scale
- Milk frother
Instructions:
- Melt the beeswax, carnauba wax, cocoa butter & shea butter in the double boiler along with the almond oil.
- Add hemp oil and honey and stir until liquid. The recipe notes that as honey is not soluble with oil, it won’t totally dissolve with heating and needs to be mixed with the milk frother.
- Remove from heat, add essential oils, and blend with the frother while the mixture cools but still pourable.
- Pour into tubes and leave untouched to set.
